THE ANDREW AND JAMES SHOW DESTROYS BARNSLEY !
AFC Barnsley, already promoted, maybe champions elect of the Vipond Fire Protection Premier Division but that did not count for much as far as Bentley Colliery where concerned, AFC met their waterloo like a number of other leading sides at 'The Avenue' and goals by Bentley's striking duel of Andrew Betts and James Naylor gave the home team a 2-0 success and kept AFC's Championship celebrations on ice, at least for another week.
Grimsby Borough enhanced their promotion credentials by crushing second from bottom Harworth C I 7-0 at the College Ground.
Lee Stephenson again led the way for the North Lincolnshire club hitting a hat trick, Dale Snell weighed in with a brace, Benjamin Allen and Richard Creer added to the visitor's dismal day.
Both the third and fourth placed teams did not play, so a chance for catch up by the chasing clubs but there was mixed fortunes.
Ollerton Town who had dropped from 4th to 5th in midweek, as a result of Kimberley Town's impressive 5-1 home win over Thoresby Colliery Welfare, had the chance to return to 4th place but they found bottom club Thorne Colliery a tough 'nut to crack and a goal by Kirk Frost gave the home team a deserved victory and the reward, a move of the bottom for the Yorkshire club; richly deserved since the appointment of a new manager in the new year and on present form, they could even climb out of the re-election positions.
A first half goal by Stephen Gilbert gave Matlock United the points at Thoresby Colliery Welfare and with games to play they are still in with a chance of gaining promotion and it appears that Matlock and Kimberley Town are the most likely clubs to challenge Bolsover Town for the third promotion place, with Matlock United and Kimberley Town having still to meet this season, these two games will certainly have a big say in the final promotion places.
The battle to keep out of the re-election positions appears to be between Thorne Colliery, Yorkshire Main and Blidworth Welfare, Harworth C I, already, being assured of that unwanted distinction, so it's two from three and Yorkshire Main look like joining Harworth after being crushed 5-0 at Blidworth Welfare, The Law bros, Tony, who scored twice and with Ricky also on target, they gave the visitors defence a terrible afternoon, with further goals from David Wilks and Michael Bollington the home fans had reason top celebrate after a disappointing season to date. However, it seems that Blidworth will still be battling out for the third re-election position.
3-1 wins for Newark Town and Welbeck Welfare, Garith Dobb, Paul Dobb and Simon Wllison scored the goals for Newark Town at home to Forest Town who replied through Adam Robinson, Welbeck's win came at the other Newark club, Flowserve and it was goals by Ashley Bettany, Kevin Nussey and Dean Rick that gave the Nottinghamshire club victory. Mark Nangle, Chris Murdock and Marquin Smith scored the goals that gave Dunkirk their 26th win in 34 league games and took there lead to 12 points over second placed Pelican who where without a game. Dunkirk also have two games in hand and now only need two wins from eight games to clinch a deserved title.
As a result of second placed Pelican not playing, Dinnington Town, the third placed club, are now only one point behind the Nottinghamshire club, They followed up a midweek defeat over relegated Askern Welfare by overcoming Rainworth Miners Welfare 4-2 with two goals each for Roger Mackenzie and Liam Cartledge. Ben Cobley and Jonathan Milner scored the Rainworth goals but relegation is now a reality for the visitors.
Both Rolls Royce Leisure and Heanor Town who occupy the other two relegation position again gave disappointing performances, Rolls went down to fellow strugglers Nettleham, the visitors winning 3-0 with goals by Alan Forward, Lee Beesley and a Paul Hodds penalty. Heanor Town, who are two points above Rolls, 'huffed and puffed' at the Town Ground but let the visitors, Greenwood Meadows, steal the points going down to a 2-1 defeat.
Andrew Vickerton put 'The Lions' in front, but two goals by Michael Evans gave Greenwood Meadows victory, despite the home team having most of the play.
4th from bottom Blackwell Miners Welfare where expected to give 4th placed Teversal a close game, after their recent impressive performances, at Primrose Hill but the visitors , at last, looked like a promotion team and with Richard Walker leading the way with a hat trick, 'Tevies' ran out 6-1 winners. Daniel Adams scored twice with David Cockerill adding the other goal to keep the North Nottinghamshire club in 4th position. Barton Town Old Boys dropped further points at home being held to a 2-2 draw by Radford, a useful point for the visitors who remain on the relegation fringes.
Neil Buckley scored both the Barton goals. Patrick Samba and David Ward replying for Radford.

Third placed Rainworth Miners Welfare Reserves lost 3-2 at Radcliffe Olympic Reserves and 4th placed Teversal Reserves also crashed to defeat 4-1 at Pelican Reserves.
Dave Winters scored both the Forest Town Reserves goals in their 2-0 win at Radford Reserves and a good win for Sandiacre Town Reserves, a goal from Scott Hughes gave them all three points at St Giles Park against Clipstone welfare Reserves.
