IT'S ALL SUPREME!

The 4th Round of the Quartet Catering League Challenge Cup Competition took centre stage and it turned out to be a bad day for the two remaining Vipond Fire Protection Premier Division sides left in the competition, however, both gave a good account of themselves.

Stadium Services side Sandiacre Town visited Premier Division Pinxton and it was first half goal by Sam Potter that gave the visitors victory and a semi final encounter against Teversal.

Teversal entertained fellow Supreme Division opponents Barton Town Old Boys and thanks to goals by Chris Bradshall, Rob Clarke and Lee Widdowson the tie was virtually over at half time with the 'tevies' 3-0 to the good, Barton did perform better in the second half but where restricted to a consolation goal converted by Stuart Elliott.

Premier Division side Bentley Colliery hoped to repeat their performance of the 3rd Round when they upset Supreme Division club, Graham St Prims but it was not to be, two goals by Darryl Thomas took the Supreme Division leaders Dunkirk through to a semi final clash with Radcliffe Olympic. However, Bentley can be pleased with their cup run.

Radcliffe Olympic pulled off the result of the day, knocking out another Supreme Division side, Pelican, the visitors where strongly fancied to win this one but the home team controlled the game and it was a hat trick by Damien Rennicks that ensured a superb 3-1 win. Andrew Frawley was the Pelican scorer from a penalty.

Goals by Graeme Clark, James Hendry and Simon Mirfin gave Dinnington Town a 3-0 home win over Nettleham and this took the Yorkshire based club into 3rd place in the Stadium Services Supreme Division, Holbrook Miners Welfare could have gone 4th but they surprisingly where held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Radford, a good week for the visitors who also won 1-0 in midweek at Graham St Prims, the four points gained is a great help to the Nottinghamshire club in their fight to avoid relegation.

Scott Dainty was the Holbrook gaol scorer with Nathan Todd on target for Radford.

Graham Epps followed his brace at Sandiacre last Saturday by again scoring both the Gedling Miners Welfare goals in their 2-1 win over visitors Heanor Town, who replied through Adam Nichols.

This was another bad result for 'The Lions' and they are now 4th from the foot of the table and this is only their on goal difference from the two clubs below them, Rolls Royce Leisure and Blackwell Miners Welfare.

Rolls had no match today but secured a good point in midweek drawing 0-0 at Sandiacre Town.

Blackwell Miners Welfare having won their last six games, including a midweek win over the bottom club, Askern Welfare 2-1, went down to a 1-0 defeat at Appleby Frodingham, new Appleby signing Hellaby scoring the winning goal.

Askern Welfare's plight at the bottom of the table goes from bad to worse as they suffered defeat number 24 at home to Greenwood Meadows, the visitors winning 3-2 and the home team are now seven points adrift of the three clubs above them and have played more games.

A goal by David Cole gave Graham St Prims victory at Rainworth Miners Welfare, whilst the clash between Kiveton Park and Clipstone Welfare ended all square at 1-1. Paul Bracey scoring for Kiveton, Andy Woodcock replying for Clipstone.

AFC Barnsley continued their surge towards the Vipond Premier Division title by inflicting another crushing defeat on their opponents, this time Thoresby Colliery Welfare, goals by Gavin Bassinder (2), Paul Bagshaw, Ben Moore and Terry Taylor gave the leaders a 5-0 victory and brought their tally of goals to 117 in only 29 games.

Second placed Grimsby Borough are holding on to AFC's 'shirt tail' they crushed bottom club Thorne Colliery 7-0, a return to the bad old days for the visitors.

Lee Stephenson led the way with a hat trick and the other goals came from William Boulton, Richard Creer, Kevan Short and Christopher Snell.

AFC remain 12 points clear but Grimsby have three games in hand.

3rd placed Bolsover Town also won comfortably 3-0 at home against Newark Flowserve and although they are twelve points behind second placed Grimsby they now hold the same point's advantage over 4th placed Newark Town.
Bolsover's scorers where Matthew Wildman who hit 2 and Steven McMahon.

Newark Town did not enjoy their trip to Bottesford Town, first half goals by Mark Anderson and Luke Cadman gave Bottesford a 2-0 win.

Kimberley Town moved up to 5th place, they overcame a potential 'banana' skin winning 4-1 at Santos.

Michael Gartlend hit 2 with Desbon Bushiri and Ben Kirstell adding the other goals, however, Kimberley's biggest problem is their inconsistency, because they surprising lost at home in midweek losing 4-3 to mid table Bentley Colliery.
However promotion is a real possibility for 'The Stags' if they can win their outstanding matches.

The same can be said for Matlock Town, a midweek win 2-1 at Blidworth Welfare keeps them in the 'mix' and with up to seven games in hand of some of the clubs above them, the Derbyshire club can really have a big say in the final promotion positions.

Ollerton Town are certainly another club with an outside chance of featuring in the final promotion places and two goals by Dean Hanky gave the Nottinghamshire club a 2-0 home win over Forest Town.

Yorkshire Main dropped into the re-election places after losing 1-0 at home against Welbeck Welfare, the only goal of the game being scored by Bryn Jones.

Blidworth Welfare scrapped a point at fellow struggles Harworth CI drawing 1-1 but this took the visitors out of the bottom three.

Gary Page scored the Harworth goal with Kyle McDermott the Blidworth marksman.

Both the top two teams in the Lee's Reserves Premier Division won, leaders Southwell City Reserves defeated visitors Rainworth Welfare Reserves 2-1, Foster and Gould for the home team, Burn for Rainworth. Second placed Holbrook Miners Welfare Reserves had no problems at Forest Town Reserves winning 4-1.

3rd placed Carlton Town 'A' also hit 4 winning 4-2 at Graham St Prims Reserves and Teversal Reserves also won away 3-0 at Kimberley Town Reserves.

A goal by Hallam gave Heanor Town Reserves victory over Radcliffe Olympic Reserves and Doyle hit a brace for Radford Reserves who won 2-1 at home against Sandiacre Town Reserves.

The match between bottom team Rolls Royce Leisure Reserves and Clipstone Welfare Reserves ended goalless.

In Lee's Reserves Division One, leaders, Dunkirk Reserves again dropped points, being held at home by Pelican 'A' to a 1-1 draw. Farmery for Dunkirk. Gudagni for Pelican.

Second placed Nettleham Reserves had a 'bonanza' winning 5-1 away at Matlock United Reserves, a result that takes the Lincolnshire side to within four points of the leaders but Dunkirk Reserves have three games in hand.

Another team to win 5-1 against Blackwell Miners Welfare Reserves, were Newark Flowserve Reserves and their 'hero' was Jordan Mack who hit a hat trick.

Coulson and Hunter scored the goals that gave Sandiacre Town 'A' a 2-0 win at Appleby Frodingham Reserves, a disappointing result for the home team, after they had reached the Final of the Phoenix Trophies Reserves League Cup, gaining a 1-0 win in midweek over Sandaicre Town Reserves and now meet another Reserves Division One side in the final, Dunkirk Reserves.

Santos Reserves enjoyed their trip to Newark Town Reserves recording a 5-2 success and Bolsover Town Reserves also won on their travels 2-1 at Blidworth Welfare Reserves.
