APPLEBY GO SOUTH(WELL) AT BLACKWELL!!
Southwell City are the new Buckingham Insurance Supreme
Division leaders, after the previous leaders Appleby Frodingham,
went down to a shock defeat at Blackwell Miners Welfare, prior to
this game Blackwell had conceded eleven goals in their opening two
games, they even obtained this superb win the hard way, coming from
a goal down at half time to win 2-1.
John Robinson scored the Appleby goal, Mark Deakin
and Jordan Gregory hit the Blackwell winners.
After their excellent opening day win at home against Graham St
Prims, Southwell City again gave their supporters plenty to shout
about at the Recreation Ground, Simon Hennessey led the way with
a hat trick and with Darren Norwood and Kris Seymour on target the
Nottinghamshire club gave their Derbyshire visitors, newly promoted,
Pinxton a lesson in finishing winning 5-2. It’s top spot for
Brett Marshall’s team.
Daniel Marriott and Jonathan Cleaver scored the Pinxton
replies but tonight’s table does not look good reading for
the visitors, because they prop up the table without a point after
their opening two matches.
Gedling Miners Welfare are second in the table, with
the same points as leaders Southwell City but an inferior goal difference,
2-0 in front at half time Gedling went on to defeat another promoted
club, Bolsover Town, 3-1.

Another side on seven points, but in third place,
are last seasons champions, Dunkirk, after an opening day draw at
home to AFC Barnsley, they have won two on the trot and the latest
side to taste defeat are Heanor Town, goals by Stuart Coke and Neil
Thompson gave the home team a 2-0 victory.
Radcliffe Olympic are 4th, two goals from Chris Atkins
gave the Nottinghamshire club a 2-1 home win against Lincolnshire
visitors, Nettleham, for whom Jamie Sayce scored.
Radford, in 5th place, they have certainly started
the season in style, unlike the clubs above them, Radford have only
played twice and have recorded two impressive victories, their 2-1
success over Greenwood Meadows being followed by a more impressive
victory, 3-0, over highly fancied AFC Barnsley.
The Manager’s son Darren Garmston hit 2 with
Nathan Todd adding to the Yorkshire visitor’s woes.
Promoted Kimberley Town could be the surprise team
in the division, they turned on an impressive display at home to
Clipstone Welfare and goals by Chris Newbold (2), Anthony Shannon
and Gavin Wills gave ‘The Stag’s a 4-0 victory and 6th
place in the division.
Appleby Frodingham’s defeat sees them drop
from top spot to 7th.
Barton Town Old Boys got the better of visitors Graham

Holbrook Miners Welfare and Rainworth Miners Welfare
shared four goals. Scott Dainty and a Ben Anderson penalty for the
home team. Ben Cobley and Barry Alberry replying for Rainworth.
A good start for the season for the League Cup Holders,
Sandiacre Town, goals by Mark Booth and Lee Aldred gave the Derbyshire
club a 2-1 home win over Dinnington Town for whom Wallace Chambers
scored their goal.
A third defeat on the trot for Rolls Royce Leisure,
they find themselves second from bottom place, after going down
to a 3-1 defeat at Greenwood Meadows.
Oliver Gee got a brace for Greenwood, Ben Ellison
adding the third.
Rolls reply being an own goal.
Grimsby Borough as expected have started the season,
in the Vipond Fire Protection Premier Division, as they finished
last season, Lee Stephenson followed up a midweek hat trick against
Thorne Colliery, Grimsby won 3-2, with four goals at Welbeck Welfare
and with Mark Carroll hitting two and Williams Boulton also scoring,
visitors Grimsby won resoundingly 7-0, a result that leaves Welbeck
firmly rooted in bottom place.
CMFL newcomers LSS Lucarly’s have also made
an excellent start and like Grimsby have won all their opening three
games, Lucarly’s latest win was at Kiveton Park, a goal by
Michael Armstrong was good enough for the North Lincolnshire club
to take all three points.
Bilborough Pelican are also on nine points and in
third place, two goals from Chris Henson gave Bilborough a 2-1 win
at Ollerton Town. Brett Watson scoring the Ollerton goal.
The other new team in the league Hatfield Main are
in fourth place, they dropped two points in midweek drawing 3-3
at Bentley Colliery but they had no problems away at Blidworth Welfare,
goals by Rob Brown, Ricki Crompton and Gregg Daniels giving Hatfield
a 3-1 victory.
They even scored the Blidworth goal.
Newark Town are in 4th place, Newark won 4-0 at home
against second from bottom Yorkshire Main. Simon Ellison hit a hat
trick with Mark Ellison adding the fourth.
Bottesford Town clicked into gear destroying visitors
Matlock United 5-1.
James Leech led the way with a brace, Ryan Hibbard,
Thomas Love and Andrew Sharp adding the other goals. Steven Morris
scored a consolation goal for Matlock.
Bentley Colliery sent Thorsby Colliery Welfare packing,
Lee Briddock was another hat trick man and with James Naylor also
on target Bentley won 4-1. Adam Hartley scored the Thoresby goal.
Darren Fell was the toast of Thorne Colliery, his
two goals gave the home team victory over Newark Flowserve. Flowserve’s
goal being scored by David Bailey.
Forest Town and Askern Welfare shared four goals.
Craig Jackson and Adam Robinson on target for Forest Town, Chris
Bridges and Tom McLaughlin replying for Askern.
It was also a draw between Harworth C I and Santos,
Darryl Harker for Harworth. Leigh Harrison for Santos.
In the Lee’s Reserves Premier Division two
matches took place and both finished in resounding wins for the
visiting teams, Retford United Reserves winning 6-1 at Carlton Town
‘A’ and Bilborough Pelican Reserves crushing Teversal
Reserves 5-1.
In this match Matthew Eastwood hit a hat trick for
the visitors.
