Southwell City are the new Buckingham Insurance Supreme Division leaders, after the previous leaders Appleby Frodingham, went down to a shock defeat at Blackwell Miners Welfare, prior to this game Blackwell had conceded eleven goals in their opening two games, they even obtained this superb win the hard way, coming from a goal down at half time to win 2-1.

John Robinson scored the Appleby goal, Mark Deakin and Jordan Gregory hit the Blackwell winners.
After their excellent opening day win at home against Graham St Prims, Southwell City again gave their supporters plenty to shout about at the Recreation Ground, Simon Hennessey led the way with a hat trick and with Darren Norwood and Kris Seymour on target the Nottinghamshire club gave their Derbyshire visitors, newly promoted, Pinxton a lesson in finishing winning 5-2. It’s top spot for Brett Marshall’s team.

Daniel Marriott and Jonathan Cleaver scored the Pinxton replies but tonight’s table does not look good reading for the visitors, because they prop up the table without a point after their opening two matches.

Gedling Miners Welfare are second in the table, with the same points as leaders Southwell City but an inferior goal difference, 2-0 in front at half time Gedling went on to defeat another promoted club, Bolsover Town, 3-1.

The Manager’s son Darren Garmston hit 2 with Nathan Todd adding to the Yorkshire visitor’s woes.

Promoted Kimberley Town could be the surprise team in the division, they turned on an impressive display at home to Clipstone Welfare and goals by Chris Newbold (2), Anthony Shannon and Gavin Wills gave ‘The Stag’s a 4-0 victory and 6th place in the division.

Appleby Frodingham’s defeat sees them drop from top spot to 7th.
